Description
The Solar PV Storage Cell used in all of our SOLAR VOLTAICPV systems are of the rechargeable, Deep Cycle, lead acid-calcium type, with built in features to be maintenance free. They are Valve Regulated, Lead Acid (VRLA), which gives high, trouble free, performance. 1,600 cycles at 75 discharge, or 5 to 7 years of average lifespan, without maintenance or Human intervention.

Construction
It's container casing and cover are made of ABS resin, of high strength with superior acid resistance properties. The cover is sealed to the container to prevent electrolyte or gas leakage. The positive and negative plates are of active substance, including lead-calcium alloy grid structure. A retainer of unwoven glass fibre mat, of high oxidation and heat resistance, offers good electrolyte absorption and retention properties, with good ion conductivity. The electrolyte is in gel form, thus making these batteries maintenance free, with NO LIQUID to top up. The safety valves protect against abnormal increase in internal pressures, only caused by over charge.

Electrical
The heavy-duty grids provide extra performance and service life in both cycle and floating applications, even in deep discharging conditions, as experienced in our PV system. Cycle rate expected at 30 discharge per cycle is 1,825 (5 years) conforming to specified normal use.
The internal resistance is approximately 10m W with a maximum discharge current of 350 A (5 sec). The charging voltage (68°F) in standby use is 2.275 ± 0.025V/cell and at cycle use 2.45 ± 0.05V/cell. Maximum charging current is 7.8A and the voltage charging and discharging process is safeguarded with the use of our SOLAR VOLTAIC™ controller/charger. Expected life use under float (trickle charging) is 5 to 7 years in Malaysia (12 years in Temperate Climate).
